Sunday 6th June – University of East London graduate Natasha Wood‘s collection at Graduate Fashion Week 2010 was entitled “Alliance”

Where British Countryside Heritage takes a journey into hunters becoming hunted, the Suffolk punch amalgamates with agricultural steam engines, those core British symbols, values and concepts are cherished and respected.

The “Alliance” will be re-made with recycled trench coats, leather jackets and tweed blazers, by deconstruction and reconstruction.

The trench coat, a heritage functional garment, holds the main structure together where shapes and details are juggled between belts, deconstructed handbags, tweed and check blazers and leather jackets for an eco friendly design.

Silhouettes are inspired by pheasant plumage, munkjack skulls, shire horses’ tack, steam rally and the recycled garments.

The collection sits on a neutral colour palette inspired by the countryside itself particularly its berries, currents, leaves and animals with highlights of yellow and blue.

Prints will be explored using hand drawn biro prints, inspired by Holly Hobby.
